professionals. They A) know about and understand the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment. They B)
know about and use systematic observations, documentation, and other effective assessment strategies
C) in a responsible way, D) in partnership with families and other professionals, to positively influence
the development of every child.

Brief Description of Evidence: (include semester completed)

During the fall semester of 2014 during my ECED 101 class, I observed the medicine
administration and safety procedures at a local preschool. It only took about 30 minutes, and I
talked with the head administrator at the facility.

Analysis of What I Learned:

When analyzing a four star pre-school, few to no flaws are found in their written system.
I also noticed that having words stating the escape plans for the classroom can be dangerous for
children that dont know how to read, the preschool I went to had colorful maps that the children
could understand.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:

I can now go into any school and make a good observation in these areas and see that
children are in a safe environment when it comes to medication administration as well as safety

measures taken for emergencies as well as on the playground and just in the classroom in
general.
