Thoughts on Stanley Milgrim and/or Stanford prison experiments
I have seen The Stanford prison experiment before in my psychology. First off, I
think it is crazy that the experiment administrator was allowed to do this. To me, it seems
like a small form of torture. I think it is mind-blowing that someone who is wearing dark
sunglasses can affect how someone sees them. I can understand how this can relate to the
Nazis because I think this experiment is a demonstration of how and why this happens. I
would never sign up for something like this because I think it would change you
completely. Wearing a certain outfit changes your mindset of who you are, it gives you a
different identity. The prisoners would be the most at risk to long-term effects because the
guards ended up being so rude and belittling them. I think once you get in the mind set of a
character everything about you changes. In this case, the prisoners took on an extreme
role to make their time worthwhile and therefore might of changed the results of the
experiment. I think it is unbelievable how brainwashed the prisoners became and how fast
they did. It is like they are all acting at first and then it become them. To end the video, it is
crazy how responsive the psychologists were to have this affect on students.
