Group Activity

Chapter 2A
For my cooperative learning activity, the class will play charades to review and
practice the reflexive verbs and vocabulary in the chapter. Groups will be formed
according to the size of the class. There will be groups of 4 or 5 depending on how many
students are in class that day. I will divide students into these groups by having them
number off.
Each group will take a turn having a member come to the front of the class and I
will give them a word from a list of vocabulary that they will need to act out. They will
be able to ask me if they have any doubts about the word they are given and then they
must act out the word for the entire class. The group whose member is up front can then
talk amongst themselves and share their guess with the class when they think they know
what their classmate is acting out. The other groups will need to have paper and a pencil
out and record their guess for each action being performed by groups other than theirs. If
the group guessing incorrectly answers, then the next group in line will have a chance to
steal their point. One point will be given out to each group for a correct answer given.
Students will take turns being the person to act out a word.
This game will give all students a chance to practice their vocabulary. They will
be shown which words they may not know as well and need to look at again by recording
their answers individually on a sheet of paper when other groups are guessing their
teammates charade.
Success for this activity will be active participation and knowledge of the
vocabulary. This will be a good way for me to gauge how well my students know their
vocabulary and what may need to be reviewed more. Students should be able to identify
correct vocabulary words from their peers' charades.
The vocabulary I plan to have students act out is the following:
(students will be able to tell their classmates before they begin if they are acting out a
verb or a noun)
acostarse
afeitarse
arreglarse
banarse
cepillarse los dientes
cortarse el pelo
despertarse

levantarse
lavarse la cara
pintarse las uas
secarse
vestirse
el agua de colonia

el cinturn
el desoderante
