Please consider me as a candidate for the Editorial Assistant position advertised for Simon &
Schusters Touchstone imprint. I believe my previous publishing experiences uniquely suit
Touchstones current and future objectives.
During my internship for TouchPoint Press, I evaluated manuscript submissions, wrote reader
reports, assembled title lists, and communicated with authors and agents. I not only worked on
a wide diversity of works for both fiction and non-fiction markets, I also navigated the specific
challenges unique to traditional print and digital publishing formats. By the end of my
internship, I was entrusted with the privilege of serving as primary editor on a digital fiction
title, Enraptured by Shyla Lukens.
At the University of Southern Indiana, I completed courses in rhetoric, creative writing,
advanced composition, and professional writing, as well as extensive coursework in the field of
linguistics. My training extended outside the classroom as a tutor in both of the universitys
writing centers, where I instructed students in writing skills ranging from grammar and tone to
full developmental editing. I also worked extensively with ESL (English as a Second Language)
students in overcoming the difficulties inherent in cross-cultural methods of writing.
