It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Miss Nicole Malara.
Miss Malara came to West Point Elementary School as a student teacher in our primary learning support
classroom during the first seven weeks of the 2014-2015 school year. As a student teacher, Nicole has proven
to be reliable, conscientious and dedicated to maintaining a high standard of excellence for herself and for the
students she works with.
With our group of diverse academic levels, and ever changing fast paced schedule, Nicole has demonstrated
flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges. She has handled a full range of responsibilities teaching
reading, writing, and math by using our existing technology and her own extensive knowledge. She developed
engaging multimedia and creative presentations for every lesson she taught. When last minute schedule
changes occurred, Nicole rose to the occasion, and quickly adapted to meet the curriculum demands and time
constraints at hand. Patience and intuitiveness are needed in a room with a revolving door of first through
fourth grade students with varying disabilities. Nicole's pleasant but firm demeanor worked well to maintain
control and a positive working environment with many behavioral challenges. She used behavior
management programs and techniques, progress monitored, probed, recorded, and used the data to drive her
instruction weekly.
Nicole's contributions to West Point and our Learning Support Room have been impressive and valuable. Her
desire to see our students succeed is evident in her enthusiasm and perseverance in helping them meet their
goals. She has been a vital contributor to our learning support program.
I, without any reservation, would recommend Miss Malara for future positions in this capacity. She would be
a great asset to any building; and the skills she brings to the Learning Support environment are a necessity
with the continuous increase in standards schools face year after year. If you wish to have further information
