The purpose of this submission is to: * outline the overall planning and management of health infrastructure: + communicate the capital investments needed to effectively maintain the existing asset base and modify it as needed to support service delivery strategies; * provide the Ministers of Health and Infrastructure with the information needed to recommend appropriate future funding for health infrastructures * provide a rational and compelling context to Alberta Health and in turn to Treasury Board and Finance, for assessing individual project recommend relative to provincial capital proposels (including all the ministries! capital submissions) and priorities; and + when possible provide a preliminary estimate of operating costs for the proposed capital investments. AHS has identified fifteen urgent, high prior investments for this year's submission. The projects Alberta (GoA) but not yet funded. It needs to be noted, that of these projects represent a high degree of risk to patients and or staff and are critical or very urgent. In some cases current infrastructure cannot support existing or evolving service demands, in other cases facilities are functionally and or operationally obsolete with either current or certainly the potential for imminent failure.
