problem.

Objectives
TSW calculate the average rainfall and temperature for their assigned city.
TSW use Ipads to find out about the rainfall and temperature in their city and then
make Powerpoint.
Intoduction/Anticipatory Set/ Set induction/ Focusing Event
TTW ask the students if they have ever found the average of anything? Like grades.
TTW will show an example of how to find the average of numbers.

1. TTW
2. TTW ask students if they know what finding the average of numbers means.
3. TTW ask the students if they have ever found the average rainfall or
temperature of a city. And then ask what they think the averages would be.

1. TTW will show an example of how to find the average of numbers on the
smart board.
2. TTW will ask the students if they know how to operate PowerPoint.
Independent Practice
1.TSW be working in groups of four.
2. TSW will be assigned three cities in Louisiana to find the average rainfall and
temperature of.
3. TSW will use the website http://countrystudies.us/united-states/weather/ to
find the average rainfall and temperature of their city.
4. TSW will record the rainfall and temperature of each season for each city then
find the average using a calculator.
5. TSW make a PowerPoint showing all of their data they found.
Closure/ Questioning

1. TSW present their PowerPoint to the class showing their averages and
explain how they found the averages.
2. TTW ask the students how to find an average.

Accommodations
1. Repeated directions will be repeated if needed.
2. If students need help they can raise their hand and the teacher will help.
3. Students can calculate averages of cities in a different state if they finish
early.
