Dear Director,
I am seeking to work at your Day Care one day. In my opinion starting off working in a Day Care
center is the best way to start, and then making my way up would be my next option. I haven't had a job
in working with children, but I have experience in this field by observations and volunteering in a
preschool classroom. I first started having experience with children when my mother used to baby sit.
Then I had to do observations for my classes and that gave me more experience. I started off observing
children. Then I became a volunteer in the Preschool classroom in a school. I was there regularly on
Fridays or any other day that I don't have school. I am not there anymore because I am doing my
practicum. This experience has really helped me because I can actually see where the child needs more
help and I also can see how every child learns differently. I know that I have to teach some children in
different ways. Having the chance to observe and actually interact with children just makes me know
this is what I want to have a career in. Having this opportunity helped me in making activities for
children depending where they are developmentally appropriate. I know that I have to understand what
I am teaching if I want the child to understand it as well. I know I have to make the lesson fun and
entertaining for them. It's not only that, I know I have to model behavior because the children do what
they see. I believe that I know this not just because it's what we are taught in class, but because I have
had the opportunity to be inside of a classroom to see how it all works out. I am excited to see how this
will all turn out and I hope one day I can work at your Day Care center.
Sincerely, Ilse Martinez
