Mobile Learning Project

Name the lesson. Peer Review and Collaboration Using Chat Tools and/or Voice
Recorders
What technology is needed? Devices with chat and voice record functionality(cell phones, Nintendo DS, tablets, netbooks, MP3 players, digital camera.)
Computer. Internet
Age it is appropriate for. 6th -12th grade
How would it be used? TLW construct a short text using a chat or voice-record
device and submit it to a peer. TLW deconstruct a text and provide feedback to a
peer. TLW analyze a recorded text to test their learning
What benefit does it have for students? By using mobile devices, the
assignment can be completed anywhere. Students can collaborate with one
another to complete the assignment.
What benefit does it have for teachers? The teacher can pair struggling students
with advanced students to encourage students to support one another.

Name the lesson. Collecting Biological Phenomena in Everyday Life


What technology is needed? Cell phone. Computer. Internet.
Age it is appropriate for. 6th -12th grade
How would it be used? Students will explore and document their local biological
habitats and the plants and animals that live in those habitats, place images of the
biological phenomena on a map in the location that they were discovered and
interpret the reasons why those particular plants and animals live in the habitat.

What benefit does it have for students? Students are involved in what they are
learning and gaining knowledge about what they will learn in the upcoming unit.
What benefit does it have for teachers? This activity engages students in what
they will be learning. It also encourages students to discover things on their own
prior to classroom instruction.
