Paper 1 Outline

Thesis
My parents, a long snapping instructor, and
my size acted as my literacy sponsors; all three
of which influenced my literacy in both
positive and negative ways. While my
sponsors extended beyond those three, none
were as profound and prominent in
comparison.

I. My parents originally funded my

endeavor to become a collegiate long
snapper.
A.

After discovering my natural ability to long snap a football ball I decided

to look more into the possibilities long snapping presented me with.

My parents paid for and took me to the first ever long snapping camp I
attended was hosted by the University of Miami. I was a sophomore in high
school at that point. An exceptional performance turned the head of
Miamis special teams coach, who requested my information and told me
they would be in contact during some time of my junior year.
Confident and aware of my talent I decided to attend another long snapping
camp. This one was hosted by a snapping instructor named Rubio. Again, my
parents funded this trip. I failed miserably at the camp and put on a
performance much worse than at Miami.
I once again attended a snapping camp held by a different instructor.
However, my parents were much less enthusiastic about paying for this one
after seeing my performance previously. After some convincing, they
reluctantly decided to. I did exceptionally well and the instructor, who has
hundreds of snappers he trains around the country, rated me 4.5 starts out
of 5 and at #18 in the nation.

II. During my junior year of high school

I was presented with many obstacles.
A.

I faced much adversity at the hands of parents and my own

physique.

My parents lost faith in my work ethic. After the camp that ranked
me 18th, I took time off of training. They stopped funding camps
financially along with their time and effort.
After coming home from a week long vacation I was welcomed by 2
letters from Miami; one typed and one hand written and signed by
the special teams coach. My parents continued to feel that I wasnt
putting enough work into snapping and did not allow me to attend
the camp. I would never again attend a snapping camp after that, yet
I continued to work on my snapping.
Aside from my parents I was also battling a problem to which there
was no legal solution. Im simply too short to play football at any
level of college besides division 3. The only way around this is if my
snapping is impeccable.

III. My literacy and literacy sponsors

molded me into who I am now.
A. My sponsors, especially the camp at which I
failed so miserably, built and reinforced my
character.
B. During my senior year of high school I accepted I
would not play collegiate football. However,
shortly after starting here at UCF, I decided I
would revive that dream. As a result I am
currently training to make my snapping
impeccable so that I may walk on the UCF
football team in the spring/fall.
