Curriculum News November 14-20

Monday: This week we will be finishing our unit of Greek History by studying the
Persian Wars. We will be analyzing the Battle of Thermopylae and the valiant stand
of the 300 Spartans.
Tuesday: Battle of Salamis. Students will recognize how democracy developed in
Greece as the people voted to go to war with the Persians. One of the interesting
aspects of this battle is the forming of the Greek navy with their new technology
used to build the trireme. As Greece was victorious over the 2 million Persian army,
she began to rebuild Athens.
Wednesday: the Peloponnesian War brought the golden age of Greece to decline.
Socrates spoke against involvement of Athens with this 27- year war.
Thursday: Review game. Bring all your notes. Teams win extra points in the grade
book.
Friday: Greek test.

Dear Parents,
Recent studies show that parental involvement with their students
education develops significant higher academic achievement in the classroom. This
helps with student behavior. If 1 minute a day is saved by better behavior in the
classroom then at the end of the school year, there will be 35 hours saved for class
instruction or an exciting lesson or field trip, maybe a party! Please encourage your
students to follow our class virtues of
PRIDE
positive, respect, integrity, determination and excellence.
Thank you for your inquisitive students of which I am so proud to teach. If
you want to contact me, here is my information. As always, all grades and
assignments are on student email.
