Melted plastic parts, excessive heat on Cat engines

So far only on 9000
s with Cat engines. FSR 100988 closed by
recommendation of use of heat shield, currently installed by
EAP. Still having problems and FSR 101138 is open. Problem
is in all Cat equipped trucks on the field and yet to be built. A
design review is requested to release a new shield and a
firewall/floor and/or exhaust insulation. Several issues derived
from excessive heat.
Turbo gasket burnt
On Cat engines only, could also be a result of excessive heat and
vibration. Meeting with Cat pending to review this issue, in the
mean time they replaced gaskets by warranty.

broken, then
exhaust gas leaks
and burns cab
paint. Tail pipe fall
down in some
cases.
