Composing is a term that exists in numerous spectrums in our world.

For example, when

someone is listing to the work composed by Beethoven or Bach they are thinking about
the music that the artist has created. In terms of writing, composing is to come together
(Webster Compose). In terms of writing, coming together means to form or create a
piece of literature and how we compose our writings differs from author to author.
Author, Bell Hooks, discusses in an interview how he hand writes all of his books
(Ganles 119). This takes some serious commitment and one must be extremely dedicated
to use this method. Hooks likes to use this method because it allows him to think
differently (Ganles 119). His method is a useful strategy that allows him to create
incredible work. What makes a work incredible though? This question brings us to the
idea of context. Context is just the parts of a written or spoken statement that precede or
follow a specific word or passage, usually influencing its meaning or effect (Dictionary
context). The context in writing is how the author dismays what he or she is trying to
get across to the audience. This is the most obvious yet most crucial part of writing that
either makes or breaks a piece of work. With this, it is important to think about how the
author manages to create his or her context. Hooks method of hand writing his books is
just one of numerous ways to create a text. Some authors may have other ways to really
dig in and get creative. I also feel that whatever method the author uses to compose a
work depends heavily on what the author wants to talk about in the text. Hooks for
example, most likely writes about creative things so he needs to use this method to
unlock his creative potential. So we can conclude that composing is a key element to
creating context.
