Journal Entry #21

So, where was I? Thats right, Killua. See the previous entry if you dont understand. His
double-sided nature makes him one of the shows most intriguing characters. While there are
no official teams, Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua all work together in the hopes that they will
all pass the hunter examination. However, with 405 applicants, many of whom are definitely
not pushovers, it proves to be a difficult task. And with the increasing difficulty of the exams
five stages, the exam proves to be no pushover, as those who arent cut out are quickly weeded
out. The first stage had the applicants run through an eighty kilometer tunnel with no breaks
before finishing the test by continuing the run in a swamp full of deadly and unusual creatures
that attempt to trick the applicants and lead them to their death. Only 150 of the applicants
made it through this stage. The second stage had cooking as its test. It could have been more
boring than it was, but it was still the most boring of the tests and it was (thankfully) very short.
The third stage had our main characters and another applicant named Tonpa forced into
working together to get to the bottom of Trick Tower, a prison where the criminals were tasked
with delaying the applicants escape with the promise of reducing their sentences. The fourth
had the remaining twenty-four applicants on the deserted Zevil Island trying to protect the
badges given to them as their identification as an applicant while also trying to steal their
opponents in order to get enough points to pass. And the last stage was a series of one-on-one
battles between the final nine applicants. Overall, I am impressed on how interesting the
characters have been, and the story, while not particularly fast paced, has not had any filler. It
makes me excited for whats going to come next, now that the protagonists have passed the
hunter examination.
