Hans truck gets into an accident and one of e soldiers dies
Hans broke his leg so he is going home

Munich is bombs and Liesel read 54 pages in the raid shelter
After the bombing, they see a fire and Rudy and Liesel go to it and see the pilot dying.
Rudy gives him a teddy bear to comfort him

Hans arrives home safely with his broken leg

Frau Holtzapfel's son, Michael, comits suicide for wanting to live
August 1943
Liesel and Rudy are at one of the parades and find Max in the parade
Liesel tells Rudy about Max
Ilsa gives Liesel a journal which she would write The Book Thief in

Himmel street is bombed and destroyed. Liesel is the only survivor. She was in her
basement writing in the journal when they were bombed
Liesel says goodbye to her parents and Rudy who died. She finally kisses Rudy and
leaves Papa's accordian next to him and cries on his shoulder
