WELL DISCUSS THE ACTIVITIES WEVE PARTICIPATED IN, TIPS FOR

STUDYING, AND WHATS AHEAD, AS WE END 2ND QUARTER

The best way to predict your future is to

CREATE it.
- Abraham Lincoln

What was accomplished?

Whats in store?
This quarter, we have participated in
Socratic seminars, watched documentaries
on the Civil Rights, and participated in
activities that dealt with human injustice.
Participating in these activities has required
a tremendous amount of compassion and
understanding. Students have also shown
dedication as they completed social
movement projects. With numerous
subjects, there are many areas to give
yourselves praise. You have studied
chemistry and organized the Periodic Table.
You have read To Kill a Mockingbird, a
high school leveled text. You have studied
theme, figurative language, allusion, and
symbolism: difficult concepts to realize.

Where are we heading next quarter? We will

be studying World War II and reading the
book Unbroken. We will be focusing on
Japanese-American relations and analyzing
how propaganda influences our opinions
during wartime. We will be starting our
physics unit in science, so here comes a
whole quarter of engineering projects. Hope
you can put together a great Ferris wheel
using only pasta, glue, and string!
Remember this helpful tip to keep up during
winter break:
Make flash cards of vocabulary terms and
study them for 15 minutes a night for the
two weeks, when you come back youll be
floored by how much you remember!

You can kill the dreamer, but you cant kill the dream.
As our quarter is ending, I would like to reflect on the radical growth we have done in eighth
grade. As you created your posters, presentations, and powerpoints about the social
movements you felt were inspiring, I have never been prouder of how much you have
advocated for one another. You have shown compassion, kindness, and empathy for one
another in times of difficulty. You have embodied the Golden Rule and shown the power you
have: the power to Take a Stand.
