Proposal
Have you ever wondered why does it take so long for our government to pass bills that
are clearly in the favor of the majority of the people (i.e. the affordable care act)? Most of us may
not realize it, however, the main reason to that problem is corporations. Every time our
legislative and executive leaders try to pass a bill, their decisions are always highly influenced by
corporations. How so? Before becoming real president, congressmen, or senators, candidates had
to do a campaign to gain the vote of the people. A campaign costs a large amount of money. It is
highly unlikely that a candidate use their own money to fund their campaign. Big corporations
use this fact as an opportunity. Corporations would make large amounts of donation to the
candidate so that when the candidate is elected to office, that candidate would only pass bills that
would not hurt the corporations that they owe a favor to. This is a threat to our democracy. This
makes it as if our vote no longer matter. What is the solution to this problem? One thing we can
do is to ban Super Political Action Committes.
