Observer Name: ___Henry Lopez_______________ Date of Site Visit: _____10/6/2014______

Site Name: ____Donut Falls______________________________________________
Other People Present: __I went up with my roommate and there were lots of other hikers there__
Rock Samples Collected: _I ended up grabbing a lot of sedimentary rock due to the erosion that
had happened to them over the years. There were also a lot of different metamorphic rocks.
_____
Human Observations: such as past industry, past usage, current usage
There was actually quite a bit of human interaction here as it is a local hike and many families go
there. Most of the human interactions there are hiking trails that are clearly marked out and
bridges over the creek. However there are signs up for the watershed act which means that we
get some of our water from that source.
Observations of Geologic Elements/Processes: rocks; sediments (silt, sand, and gravel); lava
flows; old volcanoes; shoreline features; wetlands; landslides or slump scars; faults; landscapes;
industrial and mine activities; stream geomorphology
The majority of the rocks that were there were metamorphic rocks. It was hard to see the
difference between one type of rock and another. These larger rocks were also very jagged.
However over the river bed, the rocks were much smaller and smoother. The sediment that was
there was gravel material.
