Artifact1 1
In my first, I artifact, Ive chosen a paragraph from high school to show that I have a
better understanding of a citation package. Above is a paragraph from high school that I will be
using as an example. When I was in high school, I did not have a good understanding of citation
packaging to fully do all the steps. In my past work, I used to plainly pull the quote from a source
and explains what it meant. For instance, in the paragraph I quoted: Me and Avery gonna drop
you off at the settlement house. You mind them people down there. Dont be going down there
showing your color.... After that, all I did was explain what it meant. Although I used quotes
and such in my paper, I realize now that I could of made my explanation better by portraying the
so what question. I look at it as if it were a bagel from Zoes. You could order a plain bagel,
toasted with just cream cheese and that would be similar to taking a quote from the source and
explains what it means. Its just plain. However, you could add bacon, egg and cheese which
would be similar to explaining what the quote means and make it clear how you were using this
authors ideas to inform your own argument. I realize now that I would first, have to show what
the quote meant in my own words but also convey how the idea supports my argument to show
the reader what I am trying to portray. When you order just a toasted bagel with cream cheese its
just the beginning, as known as the lead-in part of the quote according to the Citation
Packages: Lab Activity but introducing the Bacon, egg and cheese would be extending the
quote which portrays the So what?.
