Memes are like modern day hieroglyphs kind of. They display important snippets of
information about our culture, politics and opinions in creative and often humorous ways. In my
first meme, two items in pop culture are represented (The Walking Dead referencing Beths
death, and the scene from Jurassic Park). What this says about us is that obviously nobody cares
that Beth died in the mid-season finale. Honestly. Her character added no value to the show.
Applying the idea behind the text to the scene in Jurassic park that would fit is part of what
makes this meme a good one. Being clever is key. Also, the classic Barney Stinson true story
meme was entirely necessary.
My HACC meme is a stab at how many surprise prerequisites that HACC seems to like
to toss into your life. Apparently this is a widespread issue, as in the past week alone Ive heard
at least 10 people complain about how they only needed a few classes until the powers that be
decide that another class needs to be added to the mix. The picture is my friend Nick doing his
impression of the brace yourself, winter is coming Game of Thrones meme a few years ago,
originally intended to say brace yourself, finals week is coming.
