Introduction to the Patrick & Henderson Foundations


for Wind Turbines

This presentation will provide the audience with an introduction to the Patrick & Henderson Tensionless
Pier foundation, and a basic understanding of the geotechnical parameters that need to be considered in
designing wind turbine foundations.
Michael Laney received his B. S. in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University and
is Masters Geotechnical Engineering from California University. Mr. Laney is a market sector specialist for
the energy sector and a geotechnical engineer in Terracons Olathe, Kansas, office. Mr. Laney provides
technical oversight and marketing support for geotechnical and construction materials testing services for
wind, solar, nuclear, transmission and conventional energy projects.
