Midterm Reflection
-

I have learned the importance of writing and also just the importance of literacy.
This skill is very important due to the fact that it shapes our way to education.
Without literacy there would be no knowledge. This is ultimately very important
because it helps shape how to learn, how to interpret, and how to understand. The
semester has progressed slowly for me simply because I feel I have not gained
anything from it. Nothing is a challenge yet and that is what bothers me.

I hope to gain the understanding that everything we read ties together and helps us
in the end.

I have made connections such as the motivation to simply read and gain
information from Malcolm X. This connection has allowed me to see the
importance of education as a whole and to see that those who are less fortunate
with education sometimes push themselves harder than I do and thus I take it for
granted which is sad and unfortunate.

My writing process has stayed about the same with little to no change. The main
change would have to be that in some situations I actually take rough drafts
seriously unlike previous times where I tried minimally at rough drafts and the
peer responses.

I have unfortunately lost some of the drive that I had at the beginning of the
semester due to just situational new setting things, but I am starting to come
back to my original groove. My motivation is back to achieve the best that I can
and thus, in turn, be successful.

I am proud of my class participation because with the things that we have had to
read, I am able to sometimes relate it back to other readings and just make general
connections that improve my analysis of it all. I look at reading as all connected
and all branching off of each other anyways, so this course has simply taught me
to value intertextuality even more.

My favorite activities are honestly just the every day discussion. Unfortunately,
not everyone participates which doesnt give us an all around view from the class.
If I were King I would simply make a very small participation grade because I
learn most when people give their insights which are almost always very useful
towards a paper or a reflection because everyone views things differently and thus
you could take something from a paper that you just hadnt seen. Thats the
beauty of reading; no one does it the same.
