Formed in 2009 inColumbus, Ohioby college friends,Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih.

Released their self-titled album Twenty One Pilots in Ocotber 29, 2009.

Their second self release was Regional at Best in 2011

Followed by the departure of Thomas and Salih in mid 2011.

Tyler was joined by Josh Dun, former drummer of House of Heroes.

They were signed by the record label Fueled by Ramen in

2012 and released their studio debut Vessel in 2013.

The music

Musical influence: mix of piano (sometimes electric keyboard), synthesizer, drums and occasionally ukulele.
Both Tyler and Josh write the songs, with Tyler being the main writer. Written in poetry style that sometimes gets too long and they use
rapping to fit the lyrics.

The band had its breakthrough during their ongoing tour Quiet Is Violent World Tour

Have performed in festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Firefly.

The meaning of purpose for me, is by creating something, if it

be by writing lyrics, painting a picture, by expressing yourself
through art if it's photography or music or theater, or whatever
it is [] so the logo is an encouragement for people to create.
