UWRT 1102, 009

Final Reflection
From four months ago to now, I have learned a lot as a student and as a writer.
UWRT 1102 with Dr. Blair has been a wonderful experience. I have learned many
helpful lessons that would help me become a better writer than I am. I have learned how
to properly brainstorm, draft and finalize essays/papers.
We entered class the first day I thought I was confident writer. I have had Dr.
Blair for English 1101, which now is called UWRT 1101. My goal for this semester was
to be able to write a strong conclusion for my papers. I have improved and learned how to
better state my conclusions. The inquiry projects and rough drafts have helped me a lot to
improve my skills on writing a conclusion of a paper.
Doing an inquiry project for each paper was very help to brainstorm the paper.
Without the inquiry projects, I would be stuck when writing the paper. The project gives
a basic idea on how to outline the paper. Writing a rough draft was a great way for me to
write a paper without worrying about a letter grade. After writing the rough draft, we had
to have a peer revise the paper. I was not very fond of peer revisions. The revisions gave
our peers point of view but not professors on our essays. Even though I do not like this
process, it has helped me correct some mistakes I have made in the paper. For an
example, during my third essay I made significant mistakes on grammars that I would
have not noticed if the essay was not reviewed by someone else other than me. When I

got my final drafts back, they had very helpful comments that would help me improve the
essay. We were given the chance to revise them for a re-grade, which was a good
opportunity.
From the beginning of the semester, I have improved as a writer when it comes to
brainstorming. At first I thought I was great at brainstorming a paper, until the inquiry
projects helped me show what I needed to take in account when writing a paper. I have
also improved on writing conclusions for my papers. The peer revisions have helped me
in this area. When my peers comment on my conclusion in the rough draft, I would take
their input and rewrite my conclusion. Afterwards for my next papers, would keep in
mind what I did to improve my conclusion from the previous papers.
