Company profile:

A brief history of Petron, before, Petron Corporation was called Esso Philippines, Inc.,
which was owned by the Americans, and later renamed as Petrophil Corporation, when the
company was acquired and managed by the Philippines National Oil Company. Currently, San
Miguel Corporation (SMC) owns more than half of the shares outstanding of Petron Corporation.
It means that former has significant influence over the latter.

Petron Corporation, or commonly known as Petron, is one of the leading oil-refining


companies in the Philippines. It is part of or considered as a business whose activities are
directly related to oil refining. Furthermore, according to its webpage, it supplies 40 percent of
the countrys oil, which is equivalent to one third of the countrys oil. Its headquarters in located
in Makati City. On the other hand, its oil refinery and lube oil blending plant is located in Limay ,
Bataan and Pandacan ,Manila respectively. The refinery and blending plant has an annual
maximum capacity of 166000 MT and 90000 MT respectively. Moreover, Petron was founded
way back 1933 and was incorporated in the year 1966. Petron currently employs 9236
employees nationwide. It also has a market share of 37 percent in the oil industry in the
Philippines.

As stated above, Petron Corporation engages in refining and blending oil products. With
this, their main products for oil are as follows, Blaze, Turbo Diesel, XCS, Extra Unleaded, and
Kerosene. On the other hand, their main products for lube oil are as follows:
Petron 2T Premium, Rev-X HD , Sprint 4T Extra , Ultron Race ,and Ultron Extra .
Petromate Brake and Clutch Fluid, and Super Coolant
Petrogrease MP, Premium, and XX
Petron Industrial Lubricants and Marine Lubricants

According to its website, Petron Corporation currently owns 10 subsidiaries, namely:


New Ventures Realty Corporation. Petrogen Insurance Corporation, Overseas Insurance
Corporation, Ltd., Petron Freeport Corporation, Petron Marketing Corporation, Limay Energen
Corporation, Petron Singapore Trading Pte. Ltd., Petron Global Ltd., Pteron Finance Ltd., and
lastly Petron Oil and Gas Mauritus Ltd.
