Location
Today we are going to travel to
the San Diego Zoo! We are
headed to 2920 Zoo Drive, San
Diego, California.
The San Diego Zoo houses over
3,700 animals of more than
650 species!

What is going on this month at the zoo?


Between December 13th
and January 4th the San
Diego Zoo is hosting an
event called Jungle
Bells!

Amphibians
Yellow Banded
Poison Frog:

This frog is found in South

The Axolotl:
The Axoloto is found only in
lakes near Mexico City, Mexico!

Birds
Harpy Eagle:

The Caribbean Flamingo:


This bird is the brightest in color of all the
Flamingos in the world!

This is the National bird of Panama!

Mammals
Bonobos:

Brown Bears:

Cheetah:

Bonobos are one of the large


ape species.

Brown bears are one of the


eight species of bears.

Cheetahs are the fastest land

Reptiles
American Alligator:
The American alligator is native to The United
States.

Komodo Dragon:
The Komodo dragon is native to Indonesias
Komodo Islands.

Arthropods
Butterfly:

Honey Bees:

Lord Howe:

Butterflies can see red, green, and


yellow, but they also see color in
the ultraviolet range which reveals
patterns on flowers and other
butterflies!

Honey bees are major pollinators


for many of the foods that we eat.

The Lord Howe stick insect is


sometimes called a tree lobster.

Habitats
Desert:
Deserts are hot, dry places made up mostly of
sand, rock, and mountains.

Island:
Islands are found in almost every part of the
world, so you can find many types of habitats
on islands: rain forest, temperate forest,
tundra, and desert.
