Please consider this my application for a teaching assistant position in the Scarsdale
School District. As my resume reveals, I graduated from Manhattan College in May with
a BS degree in Childhood Education and a concentration in English. In addition, I am in
the process of obtaining my New York State certification, which I expect to receive in
September. I am currently enrolled in Graduate school at Manhattan College to receive
my Masters degree in Special Education.
My student teaching experiences at the Fox Meadow School afforded me the opportunity
to assume all the responsibilities of an elementary teacher at both the fourth and first
grade levels. This experience enabled me to develop and implement engaging, effective
lessons in all subject areas for a heterogeneous group of first grade special and general
education students. I worked collaboratively with other teachers and professionals to
create differentiated lessons that met the learning needs, and abilities of all students.
Furthermore, with a strong background in English, I am able to provide new and
innovative ideas of incorporating the English Language Arts into a variety of curriculum
topics.
I am confident and qualified to take on the rewards that teaching brings forth. I am eager
to demonstrate my talent and teaching skills within a school district that is committed to
high standards in the education of children.
