1. An original tune, or a cover for (if a cover, you must credit the composer(s)): Melody (lead) Guitar Keyboards Bass Drums 2. The rhythm section should support the melody. Any instrument may play the melody, but it should be different than the instruments in the section, unless it is a 2nd guitar etc. You may double any instruments in the rhythm section (a 2nd keyboard, for example). 3. The tune must have a discernable form (for exampleA-B-A-B-C-B, etc.). 4. There must be an intro of at least 4 bars. The intro should be brought back as an interlude, perhaps with a variation. Score must have rehearsal marks (letters or numbers). 5. A tag ending, with or without a ride outno fadeouts. 6. Must demonstrate use of either a pedal point or an ostinato in the bass, and the bass must be written entirelyno slashes, except where single or double bar repeats are appropriate. 7. Must demonstrate use of Top Note of the Voicing for guitar or/and keyboard, and use of specific rhythms for guitar and keyboard, and/or specific voicings where appropriate. 8. Must demonstrate use of specific drum notation and kicks over time, and/or stop-time notation. I dont want to see just slashes for the drumswrite intelligently. 9. Length is to be 2 to 3 minutes. It may be longer, but not less than 2 minutes. 10. You must turn in a score (see Lets Stay Together as a model), and an audio recording of your project. You may use sequencing, live, or any combination. 11. Score must contain your name, class section and the title of your tune, plus tempo and style. Add appropriate expressions (p, mf, etc.) and/or accents where appropriate. Audio will uploaded to the course site as an mp3 (ol.berklee). Also, make sure to title your mix with the song title. 12. Think about all we have discussed in terms of arranging devices or techniques, etc. Write with these things in mind. 13. Project is due the week before the final exam. Project cannot be late unless there are extenuating circumstances, and you notify me ahead of time. A late project loses 10 points per day. 14. This is to demonstrate your knowledge of the course materials as taught and included in the workbook and supplement. 15. Notation must be in accordance with the system taught in class and/or as indicated in the textbook.
