Hello,

My name is Sarrah Meyer and I am pursuing an Art Education carrier with a minor in Art Therapy. I
chose art because it is a huge part of my life. All of my grandparents were artist; both of my parents are
artist. I have been around art since I was born. I have taken an art class every year since I was in
kindergarten. Some people are good at music, pe, business or history, Art is my forte. I chose art
education because I love being around children and helping people. What better job is there for
someone who loves art, loves being around children and loves helping people than an art teacher? I
added art therapy because it is another form of doing the three things I love.
Some of my educational goals are to get my associates in phycology and my PHD in Art Education. I plan
on achieving these goals in the next 6 years. I will be attending Chadron State College, Colorado State
University, and the University of Wyoming to achieve these goals.
Some of my life goals are to have a family, I dont want a huge family one or two kids. Im an only child
so Im used to having a small family. I would like to live on a ranch either in Colorado or the ranch I grew
up on in Kimball, NE. I love animals so have animals for my kids to take care of and grow up with is a
must. I want to become the best teacher I can be. I had teachers in the past that made me dislike school
very much, I want my students to want to come to school and have fun while there. I want to change my
students lives in one way or another.
I have won several awards with my art over the years such as, having some of my photography in the
deans office at UNL for a year. I won the Audrey Towater Award with one of my batiks. I have won
several grand championships, reserve championships and numerous purple ribbons with my art at my
local fair. I have also received several purples from state fair with my artwork. I was awarded with an art
scholarship at the end of last year. Outside of my art carrier I have competed at state trap several times.
I have competed in regional and state science fairs. I did several different activities throughout high
school such as basketball, track, one act, speech, choir, FFA, and several art competitions.
Some of my tech skills include Microsoft office, prezi, Photoshop, Yearbook Avenue and several others. I
can operate technology fairly easy I would just rather do things hands on. Art is a very hands on subject.
There are forms of art that are through technology but for the most part it is all hands on.
