Introduction

Brown fields hold a substantial amount of the Original Oil in Place (OOIP) with recovery
prospect. With the aging of most hydrocarbon fields, under performance of some of the big
reservoirs and the difficulty of finding new big reservoirs for development, it has become
imperative to expand our understanding of reservoir performance. As improved recovery from
old reservoirs and effective production from new reservoirs gain importance, monitoring
changes in the reservoirs and producing from them in an optimum manner becomes crucial.
