Western mens soccer team finished strong with a 6-1 Senior Night win over

University of Mary in their last home game of the season Saturday, Nov. 1 at Robert
S. Harrington Field.
Senior Tye Hastings said he felt good going into Saturdays game after the teams 4-0
win over South Dakota Mines Hardrockers two days before, and that winning with
such a big lead gives a team quite a bit of confidence.
Hastings scored two goals, one of which came less than five minutes into the game.
I think that [goal] was really instrumental in us racking up the points over the
course of t he game, Hastings said. It kind of crushed [the other teams] spirits a
little bit with a goal so early.
Two other seniors Matt Temple and Gabrielle Zaccagnini also scored during the
game, Temple with a pair of goals and Zaccagnini with one.
"It was a great Senior Night, head coach Greg Brisbon said in a press release. Our
finishing was really good tonight, and I was happy with the overall performance.
Freshman Drew Barker scored his first career goal with less than five minutes left
on the clock, finishing the game off.
Seniors Pat Cole, Keegan Rogers and Caden Sowers also played their final game at
home on Saturday.
Hastings said the win felt even more special since it was the first year they were
playing on the new field, as well as being part of the first graduating class since the
fields inception.
With six goals total, the game was the highest scoring for Westerns men since 2010,
when the team scored seven against Northwest Nazarene.
Western aims to finish the season with a win against Simon Fraser Saturday, Nov. 8
at 7:30 p.m. in Burnaby, British Columbia.
