fast forward, Aurora gives her coat to her because she began to cry. She continues her journey in
finding the dog she ends up on the land of the Lord, where she learns that the Lord cant not give
her the dog because it is not hers. Once again we meet the character Angie and her daughter
Maria. As we approach to the end we finally learn who the Lord is, by Auroras mom. She says
that the Lord is a dog trainer, and that she wanted to train him before he gave the dog to her.On
the last page we finally learn that the connection between Aurora and her mother is rekindled.
2. While reading the novel The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse, I found this book to
be really intriguing since the beginning. I was tormented by the way how everyone during the
festiva no couldnt hear how Aurora was struggling with those men, who in some way abusing
her.Till today we can still see a little bit of this kind of things not specifically just like in the novel,
.people could be getting hurt and no one could hear them scream or anything. one thing that i did
notice while i was reading was that we got to hear about two characters from the previous
chapter. they were Angie and Maria. we learned that she actually kept that promising of naming
her Maria after her friend, Duchess. also that her daughter is now grown.Overall, i enjoyed the
last chance of viewing the lives of the men and women who struggled to lose their ethnic identity
in pursuit of the American dream.
3. When you were reading, at any point did you find confusing on who was the Lord?
Do you think the novel ended the we it should or do you think there was a better way of ending it?
4. While I was reading, I was confused and distracted at the same time on finding who was the
Coat Queen and also on who was the Lord. It had seemed that the more I continued reading
more and more confusing it was on who were these characters. The strategies that I used while
reading the novel was rereading, and taking side notes of things that I felt were important. I also
found it challenging when I did not know what a word meant, so I had to write it down and find the
meaning to them. Once I did that, everything made more sense. My motivation to continue
reading the novel was that I found it really interesting to read. I wanted to know how the novel
ended. one thing that i liked about this novel was that I can connect to it, because my parents are
Mexicans .
5. As I was reading this chapter I encountered some struggles with words and its definition. I found it
challenging because when I came upon the word I would skip or just glance at it and not know
what that word meant. A few words that that I encountered in my reading and that I did not know
were: vertiginous, raucous, curlicues. I felt the knowledge of a specific word in its context I was
misled by the information being given. Keeping track of words that you do not knowing in any kind
of reading can benefit you greatly, gives you more understanding in the given reading and more
knowledge of words that you can later use in talking or writing. It is very important to know all
sorts of vocabulary words.

vertiginous: whirling; spinning; rotary

raucous: harsh; strident; grating:
curlicues: an ornamental, fancy curl or twist, as in a signature
