Randolph Park
o The recreation facilities include: one soccer and football field, two full basketball courts, two tennis courts, two sand
volleyball courts, four baseball fields, a recreation disc golf course and a half mile track.
o The playground offers swings, a tube slide, a climbing wall and a zip line.
o Hawks Nest Pond is surrounded by a nature-hiking trail.
o Outdoor picnic facilities include:
Gazebo: seats 80, with electricity
Pavilion: seats 350, with lights and electricity
Picnic shelter: seats 80
Alumni Shelter: seats 1001
Claytor Lake
o Claytor Lake is 472 acres with 21 miles of lake.
o With a valid fishing license, visitors can fish recreationally. The majority of fish caught include: bass, catfish,
muskie, walleye and striped bass.
o There are four miles of biking and hiking trails.
o Visitors can rent pontoon boats, motorboats, paddleboards, canoes and kayaks.
o Lodging includes cabins and campgrounds. Each campground varies in size; however, each site offers a metal grill.
o Claytor Lake offers two sandy shores and swimming. 2
o Due to the increase in the deer population, deer hunting is another attraction guests are offered.3
Gatewood Park and Reservoir
o Gatewood Park is 842 acres, which offers camping, picnicking, boating and fishing.
o The park offers 35 campsites, which all offer electricity.
o The 162-acre reservoir offers the opportunity to catch largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, muskie and smallmouth
bass.
o Boats that utilize petroleum motors are prohibited. Visitors are able to rent paddle boats and fishing boats.
o There are seven hiking trails.4
New River Trial State Park
o The 57-mile trail runs directly next to the New River.
o Visitors can rent tubes to float the New River.
o This park offers four various campgrounds, which all have different views. The campsites include: Cliffview
Campground, Millrace Campground, Baker Island Campground and Double Shoals Campground.5
