Review through learning stations

I will set up 8 activity stations in the classroom, distinctly numbered so students can label
their papers for each station. I will assign 2-3 students to each station to start off and they
will rotate in order around the stations to work on the problems as a group. I will give
students 6 minutes at each station to complete the problems at that station. They may work
with the others in their group. After 6 minutes, I will give students a 30 second transition to
the next station.
Station 1:
y=|x2|+ 3
Determine the following:
A=
H=
K=
What is the vertex?
What is the axis of symmetry?
Station 2:
y=2 ( x+ 1 )23
Graph the equation.
Station 3:
1
y= ( x4 )2 +1
2
Describe each of the transformations in the order they would occur from the parent
function.
Station 4:
Graph the parent function and label the vertex and axis of symmetry in one color. Graph
the given function and label the vertex and axis of symmetry in another color.
y=|x +2|

Station 5:
Let g(x) be the transformation of f(x). Write g(x) as a function of f(x). Then write the

equation of g(x).
f(x)=3x+2
translated down 4 units
f(x)= x2-5
reflected across x-axis
Station 6:
Graph the equation.
f ( x )=2|x4|1

Station 7:

x+ 4
3

Describe each of the transformations in the order they would occur from the parent
function.
Station 8:
Let g(x) be the transformation of f(x). Write g(x) as a function of f(x). Then write the
equation of g(x).
