I am writing in regards to my interest in the Nurse Advocate position at Desert Regional Healthcare
Alliance.
In two years of clinical nurse leadership experience, I learned how to effectively collaborate and
communicate with staff while supporting teamwork, evaluating clinical development and skills required to
be a fair, considerate and trustworthy leader. I have engaged staff through supporting involvement in unit
and hospital committees and evidence-based practice improvement. I have also supported and led staff
through leading multiple volunteer opportunities.
In five years of nursing and charge nurse experience, I deliver safe and high quality patient care, have
developed critical assessment and thinking skills, and excel at handling multiple complex, demanding
tasks with patience, care, and a positive outlook. My role in precepting new staff has offered me the ability
to evaluate and establish rapport with new staff and maintain my role as practice exemplar while orienting
new nurses to provide quality and safe nursing care.
My work to complete my masters in Nursing Clinical Systems Leadership has deepened my
understanding of the function and capabilities of nurses in our healthcare system, and has served as a
catalyst in my desire to broaden my practice and experience. This education offered me a deeper
knowledge of nursing policy, quality, safety and holistic leadership, and influences me with the desire to
further support the profession and advocate for its future.
