GENERAL

1.1

INTRODUCTION

1.1.1

Scope

This Section specifies the requirements for fire fighting systems, fire alarm systems and fire
protection systems.

1.1.2

General

The Clauses in this Specification and all other information provided in the Project
Documentation shall be considered to be a minimum requirement for performance and
quality.

All electrical and electronic equipment shall be designed, manufactured, erected and tested
to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.

1.2

REGULATIONS

1.2.1

Electrical Installations

All electrical installations shall comply with all the relevant provisions of the regulations of the
following:
(a)

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation

(b)

Institution of Electrical Engineers.

1.2.2

Civil Defence Department

The entire fire alarm system, fire protection system and fire fighting system including all
materials, components, equipment and accessories and their installation shall conform to the
requirements of Civil Defence Department of the Ministry of Interior, State of Qatar. Particular
attention should be made with respect to the time required by the Civil Defence Department
for approval of schematic and wiring diagrams, layout diagrams etc.

The fire alarm system contractor shall be registered with, and on the approved list of, the Civil
Defence Department.
