Summary of Evaluations

When I met with my supervisor Lori about my evaluations she always had really positive
things to say. At the beginning of the internship there was somewhat of a confusion of
what my duties were. I am also a substitute teacher at the CDL, so I was confused about
some of the rules as an intern. I was allowed to do almost all of the responsibilities
besides diapers and to count in ratio. Since Lori was a new teacher we both were not sure
which duties the intern was allowed and which they werent. We figured these things out
together eventually. We were effectively able to communicate any problems. I had a
positive experience with Lori as a supervisor. I did not communicate much at all with Dr.
Kay. All of my time was spent in the older toddler classroom. During evaluations Lori
was able to discuss my strengths and weaknesses with me. She gave me a lot of
confidence that I will do well when I graduate and start working. Lori told me that I was
an excellent intern and that it would be hard to find someone to replace me. Although
there were some issues with communication I really loved working with this classroom. I
was able to learn a lot about crisis management, punctuality, and responsibility.
CFLE Competencies
Human Growth and Development- I was able to observe developmental changes in the
children over time based on my knowledge of the theory of human development.
Interpersonal Relationships- I worked a lot on my communication skills with the
children, parents, and teachers. I learned a lot about patience, problem solving, and
conflict resolution with the children. I also learned a lot about relating to others and
building relationships.

Parent Education and Guidance- I was able to observe the interactions among the parents
and children to see how they are taught and guided outside of school.
Presentation Skills/Teaching Methods- I assisted in planning and helping lead group and
center times.
Planning & Organization- I helped Lori during her planning hour, and I helped organize
some of the scheduling for the class! I liked putting my input in.
