The amendments to the 1973 constitution

There were SEVEN amendments to the 1973 constitution.


Gist: granting of concurrent law-making powers to the president; creation of an Interim
Batasang Pambansa; and making the incumbent President the regular president and prime
minister.
As a result of the amendments, a 120-member peoples assembly was created. (in general
terms, called the peoples assembly)(this BP would have the same power and force as the INA
interim natl assembly)
The 1977 Referendum
The Presidential Decree 1296 or the Revised Election Code of 1978

First significant plebiscite
Retirement was to be at 70 years of age for the members of the judiciary under Batas Pambansa
Blg. 54
Marcos proposed for the establishment of a modified parliamentary system.

Third Plebiscite (April 7, 1891) following amendments were ratified:


1. Modified parliamentary
2. Electoral reforms
3. Transferee of private land for natural born citizens who have lost their citizenship
JUNE 16, 1981 ELECTIONS. Gen. Alejo Santos- Marcos opponent from the Nationalista Party during
the 1981 election
January 17, 1982: Marcos proclaimed the termination of Martial Law
January 30th- Fourth Philippines Republic was inaugurated at the Quirino Grandstand.

Election for 183 elective seats in the Batasang Pambansa.
