City Hall Regina, Saskatchewan Dear Sir: Please be advised that I will submit the following INQUIRY at the meeting of City Council on Monday, December 15, 2014. Re: Regulations regarding transporting dogs in truck beds WHEREAS the City of Saskatoon has recently altered its animal control bylaw to regulate how dogs can be transported in truck beds; and WHEREAS transporting dogs unrestrained in truck beds is considered animal cruelty by many Canadian SPCAs and the Canadian Veterinary Association; and WHEREAS the City of Reginas current animal control bylaw that does not address this issue, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Administration undertake discussions with our service provider, the Regina Humane Society, to investigate a change to our animal control bylaw that would regulate how dogs can be transported in truck beds. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a report regarding the recommended course of action with respect to bylaw changes be provided to the Community and Protective Services Committee in the first quarter of 2015. Respectfully submitted,
