General System Description

The Coal Handling plant specified herein shall be an augmentation of the existing coal
handling plant facilities and shall be designed to cater to the proposed stage-Ill unit.
There are independent coal handling plants dedicated to stage-l & stage-II of the
project. The coal conveyors are rated for 1600 TPH capacity and have belt width of
1400 mm. Coal stockyard for storing crushed coal have been provided in each coal
handling plant. No new stockyard is envisaged in the present scope of the specification.
This specification pertains to the work of installation of Coal Handling Plant for
conveying (-) 20 mm size coal, received from TP-12 (existing) of Stage-II CHP and
feeding the same to the raw coal bunkers of Stage-Ill unit# 6.

The brief description of the envisaged system is as follows:

i)

All the conveyors envisaged under this specification shall be rated for 1600TPH
with 1400mm wide belt.

ii)

Crushed coal of (-) 20mm size is being conveyed from existing crusher house-II
to TP-12(existing) through conv. 18A/B. From TP-12 this crushed coal can either
be sent to the raw coal bunkers of unit# 4 or 5 through conveyor 19A/B or to
conveyor 35A/B for feeding conv. 36A/B at TP-29 at TP-29 the incoming
conveyor 35A/B can feed coal to the bunker conveyor 37A for feeding the raw
Coal Bunkers. The conv. 36A/B shall feed coal on to the bunker conveyor 37B
for feeding the raw coal bunkers.

iii)

Motorised traveling trippers are mounted on conv. 37A and 37B which shall feed
the crushed coal to the raw coal bunkers.

iv)

One no rack & pinion elevator shall be provided in TP-12 for access to various
floors of the transfer point.

v)

In the Coal Handling Plant under the scope of the specification, all the conveyors
shall be controlled & monitored by existing control desk of stage-II CHP control
room.

vi)

For control of fugitive dust, plain water dust suppression system is envisaged for
potential dust generating points. Existing auxiliary services like service water
system, dust suppression system and potable water system is proposed to be
extended for the Coal Handling Plant under the scope.
