SAP Software Logistics is working continuously on improving the processes for applying Support Packages and
component patches. Tools like Java Support Package Manager (JSPM) and Software Update Manager (SUM) are well
known by technical administrators today.
SUM functionality has been gradually extended to offer better security, supportability and scenario coverage. As a
result, all Java maintenance scenarios are now adopted by SUM. By introducing the tool unification approach, end
users benefit from the same user experience known from SAP enhancement package installations and release
upgrades.
JSPM is in a ramp-down phase since January 2013 and will reach end of support in Q3 2014. The following table
represents the tool support schedule:
