Biography
Hello my name is Jeremy Huang and Im

19. I was born in Guangdong, China on

September 11, 1995. I moved to America
was I was about 2 years old, into a home I
shared with my cousins. I went to
elementary school at John C Haines and
went to high school at Lincoln Park high
school. My hobbies include playing
basketball, live and online poker, reading
books, and gaming. Coming from a
Chinese background, excellence is
mandatory and praise is far and few
between.

Personal statement
In 8th grade, I was 9 points away from perfect on my ISAT and got accepted into one of the best programs

in the city, Lincoln Park IB. Even though I got accepted into a quite prestigious program, I heeded the
warnings of my older brother and decided to take double honors instead of IB. My future looked very
bright as I entered into my freshman year of high school. However, lack of motivation and family issues
wore down my resolve to do well in school. Despite having almost perfect attendance, my grades were
mediocre at best and I failed biology. Sophomore year, things only got worse for me. At one point, it got so
bad that the school sent a letter to my house warning that I would require family counseling if I continued
to be absent from school. Over the summer I had to work at my dads restaurant and my programs only
kept mounting. Eventually my burdens were too heavy to bear and I had an emotional breakdown in front
of my dad. Not much of a surprise, he didnt really care and even complained that I had overreacted to all
my problems. Junior year, I had a list of failed classes that I needed to make up in order to graduate on time.
Again, I had a great start to the year and my progress report showed as in all my classes except for one C in
Spanish. Just like all the other years, it was just a mix of ditching class and avoiding problems. Family
problems were getting to a boiling point at home as well, as things threated to break the very seams of our
family apart. Senior year, everyone was excited for college and I had come to accept the fact that I wasnt
going to be accepted into any of the big time colleges that I had planned for freshman year. This would be
my worse year as I only passed a couple of classes first semester and completely failed all my second
semester classes. For a time, my mind was ravaged by my imminent failures that had amassed. I considered
all my options and decided to enroll in TMC. I plan on doubling majoring in Business and Law, hopefully at
Northwestern University. Maybe then, my parents will finally be able to be proud of me

TMC

When I first entered Lincoln park as a freshmen, I had no idea what to expect from the school. I was excited to,
figuratively, to start a new life of sorts. I made friends almost immediately at orientation, who would stay good friends
for all 4 years. Entering into double honors, I wasnt expecting it to be a walk in the park. I finished the year with great
attendance and decent grades. My next 3 years would be some of what a blur, a repetition of almost the same thing, I
would begin the year strong and fall out. Despite having terrible grades and attendance at Lincoln Park, I greatly
enjoyed my time there and it has helped me matured greatly as a man and student.

At Truman college I came in and knew what I needed to do. There werent many surprises and I wanted to finish
and get out as soon as possible so that I could get back on track with my college career. My first month was great with
perfect attendance and straight As, however old problems began to plague me and hurt my attendance. With minimal
effort I could maintain straight As and all the teachers at TMC were great at helping with me anything I needed help
with. The great thing about TMC is the duel enrollment program where I can get high school credits and college
credits at the same time.

Post TMC plans

After graduating from TMC, I plan on
attending UIC next fall with a major in
business and a minor in law. I think UIC is a
good choice for me because of its affordable
tuition, close proximity to my house, and has a
great variety of interesting classes. Following
graduating from UIC, I plan on attending law
school at either university of urban of
university of Chicago.

I picked this article because it covers the life and rise of Don H. Liu, a
