January 2015

Looking Ahead
Happy New Year! I hope your
holiday was a safe and enjoyable
time with family.
This month, students will use
their senses to explore and
experiment with snow, learn
about weather changes, and the
clothing to wear in the winter.
The last two weeks of January
will concentrate on an
integrative unit based on the
story A Snowy Day by Ezra Jack
Keats. Students will work on
many pre-reading and writing
skills, and will learn about
sequencing events and making
predictions.
The focus for independent
functioning lessons this month
will be putting on coats
independently. Please continue
to work on this at home with
your child; check your childs

backpack for resources to help

teach this task.

Special Notes
1. Please remember to send appropriate clothing to school
with your child daily. We try to go outside for 5-10
minutes daily to get some fresh air, and want to ensure
that your child has sufficient clothing to stay warm for
Mrs. Becky,
that short period of time. Thank you.
2. Please continue to check the classroom website for
photos of your child, resources, and links to help you
work with your child at home.
