3 concept design for power pedal hacksaw

3.3.1 Brainstorming
This project need to do preliminary study and research. Data and information are gather
from various type of source such as book, internet, journal and other. We also had do some
research for previous product that been invented and created and we also had Identified the
advantage and disadvantage for improvement in our product.
3.3.2 Product Design

Figure above show final design for the power pedal hacksaw which we design using solidwork
program. Besides that we also to a solidwork study to determine the limitation of kinetic and
kinematic of our designed product.

3.3.3 Functional Specification

Hacksaw is one of the useful instrument to cut an object. Nowadays there are many type of
hacksaw which used to cut various things such as wood, plastic, metal and others. Product that
we create is the improvement from the manual hacksaw which use to cut thing by using a lot of
human power. Usually the efficiency of the manual hacksaw is low because it depend on the
human.
Therefore we had make a few improvement, which we try to decrease using a lot of human
energy in cutting material. One of the improvement is we use a slider to control the movement of
the cutting blade. Therefore the blade will move in straight axis. Besides that we also create a
platform to put the material that want to be cut. The platform is supported by spring which
respond toward the weight of the material that want to be cut.
Other than that, we also had create a disk which function as rotating disk for the pedal. This
method, we can decrease the movement of the user to cut the material and more efficient
compared to the manual hacksaw.

The power pedal hacksaw are functional by apply force on the pedal, then the pedal rotate the
disk and forced the steel bar and slider to move forward and backward. After that the slider that
connected to the cutting blade will force the cutting blade to move. Lastly the material can be cut
using cutting blade.
