Skimming assessment worksheet

V.

Procedure
Read over the Skimming and Scanning Guide together.
Give students both of the Study Skills Skimming and Scanning worksheets. Have
them complete the first section and give them a time constraint of 20 seconds.
Let them complete the second section. Have the first student who finishes raise their
hand.
Talk about skimming and taking quick notes keywords, bold or italicized words,
names, dates, etc. Have them complete the third and fourth seconds on the second
page.
Ask numerous students to share their bullet points.
Have students complete the Skimming assessment worksheet individually. Collect them
when they are finished.

VI.

Evaluation
Paying attention to group discussion and student participation will be a simple way to assess
the students understanding. Their ability to complete both of the Skimming and Scanning
worksheets will be a way to assess their capabilities in using these skills. Finally, the
Skimming assessment worksheet will be an overall assessment to see if they understood
the broad, basic idea.
