:Abstract

The current study aims at identifying the relationship between the

Stresses of the teaching profession and the dimensions of the
psychological health among teachers (males & females) at basic
education stage in Gaza Strip / Palestine. It also aims to identify whether
there are static significant differences in teaching profession stresses and
the dimensions of Mental Health among them, and to know the
differences between teachers (males & females) in the Stresses of
teaching profession and dimensions of mental health. A sample of this
study was consisted of (220) teachers: (108 male teachers) and (112
female teachers) who work in both Governmental and Relief Agency
International Works Agency schools (UNRWA), at basic education stage
in the Gaza Strip / Palestine, for the academic year 2006 / 2007. The two
researchers used the scale of mental health of Youth which was designed
by (Hamed Zahran and Violet Fouad, 1991), and the scale of the teaching
profession stresses which was designed by (Emad H. El Kahlout, Nasr
Kh. El Kahlout, 2006).
The results showed static significant differences in the total degree
of the Stresses of teaching profession between teachers (males and
females) degrees. It also showed static significant differences in the total
degree of Mental Health & it also found a static significant negative
relationship between the total degree of both teaching profession stresses
profession and Mental Health with its dimensions. According to the
results of the current study, the two researchers stressed on the necessity
of putting some ways and strategies to decrease the stresses of teaching
that the Palestinian teacher faces, and its negative effects on his
psychological and physical health and so on the active and educational
process.
