Psychological Thinking

Online Assignment 1
1.
I have taken Statistics and Research Methods for Psychology and Sociology as well as all classes
needed to graduate. This is my last psychology based class before graduation.
2.
The core sections of a journal article are the abstract, this is a brief summery of what the article is
about. The introduction, a section of the article that gives background information on the topic the
article is about and how it relates to other materials that are referenced. The methods section, the
section of an article were you will find how the study was accomplished and what methods were used.
The discussion section, this section is were we find results of the study and the researcher explains their
findings.
I think the most important part of a journal article is to understand the methods that the researcher used
and the results that the study provides and how they related to the rest of us. In other words how can the
information be generalized to a larger population.
3.
I am very confident in reading a journal article as it is not the first time I have done it. I did not find any
specific part useful in the article as a whole. The main reason is that none of this tips are new to me and
I am comfortable reading the articles. On the other hand the suggestions of reading the abstract,
discussion, and understanding the methods used in a study are helpful tools while reading journal
articles.
4.
I do not have any questions at this time.
