Dear Parents,
In the manth ef November several opportunities were ereated for out students to learn autside the
classroom. A jam session was organized for the Grade 9 students, which allewed them ta build an their
self-esteem through music. Omar Nour addressed the Grades 6-8 students in assembly, He spoke about
his life-changing decision to lose weight and to be healthier; he transformed from an obese businessman
into a suecessful professional triathlete. Our first live lounge sessian was sueh a sucess that it was
repeated a week later, but this time it was outside and not in the library. A few students im Gracle 14 who
do not study music anymore were so enthusiastic that they asked ta perform as well.QS bos

‘You may have noticed that the labby of the S-bullding has turned into an art gallery. Weare very pleased
te see that the quality af the artwork is improving, & number of students wha alsa like ta make art
‘outside the regular art lessons, participated in an art competition organized by the Sheikh Mohammed
Center {ar Cultural Understanding. Next month, the prizewinners will be announced but the phates of

ACTION & SERVICE
In regard to Action & Service, we are very pleased that out clothes drive initiated by a few Grade 11
students was so successful; A89kg af clothes were collected and the students handed all boxes to the
Red Creseent, We would like to thank yau fer yaur generaus contributions and hope that the clathes will
bee given to the Syrian refugees soon. The Grade 11 stucients also contacted the Red Crescent ta request
acash bos in the cafeteria, Students who want to donate their change ta the Red Crescent are now able
todose.
Anew Grade 11 project is coming up soon ta say thank you to our cleaners and security guards and to
wish them a Happy New Year. fam sure you will learn very soon more about this new Grade 11 initiative.
We also had a few Grade 10-11 students staying after school to assemble picnic tables, The weather i
very pleasant at this time of the year and we are pleased to see students enjoying the 6 extra pie
tables during their break and lunch times, We are lanning te have more picnic tables assembles,
whieh will be put outside in the next couple of weeks

A.group of students camped the night of Nowernber 20% on the school field in order to prepare for their
‘Duke of Edinturgh trig fater this schaol year. The students had to set up their tents, cook their own food
and participate in activities late in the evening and early an Friday morning

‘At the end of October almost all our seconwiary stuclents participated in a fundraiser for the breast cancer

The Grade 12 students have bean busy this month preparing their college and university applications,
and their teachers have been writing letters of recommendations. Students are applying to study mainly
in the UK, the US and Europe. On December 14, a Higher Education Fair will take place at JB5 to help
Grades 9-12 students decide on studies of their interest and Lo speak ta representatives trem colleges

MURDOCH BUSINESS CUP CHALLENGE
185 G11-12 students attended on Saturday November 29 the finals af the Murdoch Business Cup
Challenge, which took place in Knowledge Willage. 185 was selected to be among the top ten finalests
