Holland East K-7 PTO

Sara DeGarmo, MaryJo Kooiker, Jen Van Eck, Lori Sandusky
1. Principals Report- Reported by VP.
Orchestra Concert is Dec.9.
Great job to 7th graders at Thanksgiving Feast!
Next family meeting is this Thurs and will be making ornaments.
Roll over $ from Title 1 will be used for technology.
2. Box Tops
We are behind district wide. 19,000 at last collection vs. 30,000 from last year at
this time. That difference is 11,000 or $1,000.
Please put info into newsletters and announcements about box tops.
Next collection date is Weds, Dec.17
Info going in teachers mailboxes tomorrow about collection time
3. PTO VP Report
Still collecting Coke Rewards. Turn in bottle tops to East to cash in for product.
Will meet with Superintendent in January to look at PTO revamp. Focusing on 1
PTO:1District. Standardizing our practices will help build community which is a
goal of PTO.
There will now be an immediate turn around with classroom cash. As requests
come in, checkbook will be in building and appointed person will write checks.
Piloting International Night. Hopefully a date in later January or early Feb. Goal
for future is for each K-7 to take turns hosting. East will only be running it for
East this year.
It was decided to look further into a legacy gift for this event. Discussion of a
huge world map as a gift idea.
Santas Secret Shop- Contract is for three days of sales, each totaling at least
$150/day. Contract was signed last March. Only buy out option if we do not want
to host Shop. We will not sign onto FUNservices again after Jan. Secret Shop will
run Dec.16-18, 3-7pm. Tues will be a Craft day, Weds- Stories/Snacks with Santa,
Thurs- Movie (Polar Express), pizza and drink. Families must sign up for the
movie night! Teachers may walk their students through to preview the shop
during the day, but there will be no selling like last year. Still in need of
volunteers, cookies and cocoa!!
Pilot educational field trip- 5th Grade to Greenfield Village. $2500 PTO
Jr.Crew- Journalism Club- newspaper coming out next week. 4th-7th graders
writing the paper. Will sell paper at $0.50 during lunch. Journalism club meets on

Tuesdays for 1 1/2 hours. Jr.Crew also raised $40-50 worth of gift cards to give to
needy families AND gave 8 Thanksgiving Baskets away! Way to go Jr.Crew!!
Cookbook was supposed to be in Dec.18, but is currently in production. VP will
call if arriving at a later date.
