At the moment the Fertigation Farm next to COIT utilizes JBA supply to water the plant. The timer is set to open for 15
minutes to water the plants. The frequency of watering is 3 times per day. The farm does not have electricity supply,
and the A&B fertilizer in mixing tank cannot be supplied to the plants through the AC powered pump. The battery
charged by the 100 W solar panel does not have enough energy capacity to run the 1 HP pump. .
To overcome the problem, it is decided to inject the fertilizer using a venturi.
1. Use the Bernoulli equation to calculate the right diameter of the venturi in order to create enough suction to pull
the liquid fertilizer from the mixing tank.
2. Identify a suitable piping setup to ensure the fertilizer can be injected into the system and reached the plants.
3. Sketch the size of the venturi that you will use. It can be a DIY venturi or utilize the commercial venturi injector
available in the market.
4. State any assumptions you have made in solving this problem.
